Eswary Sriram is an accomplished Bharatanatyam teacher, choreographer and dancer. At an early age of 5, she was initiated in this art form by her parents under the tutelage of Guru Indira Manickam in Malaysia and did her "Salangai Poojai" at the age of 10. Eswary went to India to train in the Gurukulam system under the illustrious Guru Padmashri, Adyar K Lakshman where she did her Arangetram and recitals in Chennai, India. Eswary continued her advanced dance training with legends, Guru Padmashri Adyar K Lakshman, Guru Padmabhushan Sri V. P. Dhananjayan and Guru Smt Shantha Dhananjayan. She got her advanced training in Nattuvangam and rhythm nuances from Mridangam Vidwan Shri RamShankar Babu. Eswary is pursuing her Carnatic vocal training with Smt. Sudha Harikrishnan. Credits to Uttiya Barua for the constant encouragement throughout the advanced dance journey.
Eswary has been in the dance field for more than two decades now as a teacher, choreographer and performer. With a keen interest in preserving this art form and sharing her knowledge with the local community, Eswary founded Tatya Performing Arts in 2013. Tatya has now moved to McKinney, Texas since April 2022.
At Tatya, Eswary has trained many passionate disciples for Arangetram and they have extensively performed across USA and have received awards and accolades, including the coveted "Natya Idol" title in the national dance competition conducted in St. Louis, MO. She has to her credit many workshops and fund raisers that were conducted to aid humanitarian causes by multiple organisations.
Every year, annual showcase event is conducted at Tatya to recognize and promote individual talents of each student. Tatya is focused on encouraging students to pursue Bharathanatyam in its traditional form and also provides training in Nattuvangam for dancers.
Missouri State Arts Council recognized Eswary’s dedication to this traditional art form with grants under its prestigious, Master Traditional Artists (TAAP) program.
Eswary has also attended workshops conducted by eminent Gurus such as Kalaimamani Surya Narayanamurthi, Dr. S. Divya Sena and Kalaimamani Priyadarshini Govind to hone her skills.
